5 Makanan yang bikin kita kecanduan

by 17.40

Spoiler for 1. Coklat:

Spoiler for 2. Keju:

Spoiler for 3. Gula:

Anda sering sakit akibat memendam sendiri masalah setiap hari?

Spoiler for 4.

Spoiler for 5. Kopi:

New iPhone 5 rumors: Leaked case suggests 'radical' redesign

by 10.41
Are these designs for cases to hold the next iPhone? A British tech blog says they appear to be.
Another week, another round of iPhone 5 rumors. This time, it's an apparent case for the unreleased phone that has Apple fans buzzing. Mobile Fun, a British mobile-phone blog, has posted images of what it says is the design for a next-generation iPhone case leaked "from a Chinese case manufacturer."
The case, and an image the blog says was later sent to them by another manufacturer, suggest what they call "massive changes" to the iPhone 5, or whatever it will be called.
Among them: what appears to be a larger, roughly 4-inch display screen, a curved rear panel more like earlier iPhones than the iPhone 4, and a hole on the back -- about where the Apple logo is on current phones. Some Apple observers speculate that hole indicates a possible new location for the device's antenna, replacing the iPhone 4's much maligned side antenna.
"If these images are authentic -- and we have every reason to believe that they are -- then the iPhone 5 is a radical evolution of the iPhone concept, and a bigger departure from the iPhone 4 than previous case images have shown," the blog post reads.
But MacRumors, a popular blog focused on, well, what its name says, isn't convinced.
"We suspect all of the images and information are coming from a common source, but we don't necessarily believe it to be true ...," wrote Arnold Kim of MacRumors. "[W]e received a reliable tip that this is not what the iPhone 5 will look like. As well, several other credible news outlets have said that the iPhone 5 will look largely similar to the current iPhone 4."
Based on multiple reports, all of them from unnamed sources due to Apple's loose-lips-sink-ships policy on details about upcoming products, the next version of the iPhone will be announced in September.
The China Times pinpoints the iPhone 5 release to the second week of September with an initial order of 4 million units, MacRumors said.
A better camera, a faster processor, a bigger screen -- all have been mentioned repeatedly in rumors that inevitably swirl every time a new Apple product is in the works.
And there's obviously an audience for every one of these speculative tidbits.
A recent survey of about 3,000 consumers showed that 35 percent of them plan to buy Apple's next phone when it hits the market -- despite not knowing anything about it yet.

Nintendo slashes price of slow-selling 3DS

by 10.40
Nintendo is expecting to launch several iconic titles for its 3DS device beginning in September.
Nintendo is slashing the price of its handheld 3DS gaming device after only five months in the marketplace, possibly signaling the company's disappointment with its sluggish sales. On August 12, the 3DS' price will drop in the United States from $249.99 to $169.99. In Japan, the price drops 10,000 yen (about $127) on August 11.
"For anyone who was on the fence about buying a Nintendo 3DS, this is a huge motivation to buy now," said Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aime in a statement. "We are giving shoppers every incentive to pick up a Nintendo 3DS, from an amazing new price to a rapid-fire succession of great games."
The Nintendo 3DS was released in late February in Japan and in March in the U.S. amid much fanfare about its innovative glasses-free 3-D video display.
Reviewers praised the improved controls and look of games, although some fans complained about getting headaches after long periods of gazing at the 3-D screen. Nintendo also has faced growing competition from casual games that people play on their smartphones.
It also didn't help that the game was released just before the earthquake and tsunami that devastated Japan in March.
Looking for a rebound, Nintendo plans to launch several iconic titles for the 3DS beginning in September. "Star Fox 64 3D" arrives on September 9, followed by "Super Mario 3D Land," "Mario Kart 7" and "Kid Icarus Uprising" by the holiday season.
If you already own a 3DS, Nintendo hasn't forgotten about you. They are offering 20 free downloadable games from the Nintendo eShop -- 10 from the NES Virtual Console games and 10 Game Boy Advance Virtual Console games -- before they are available to the general public.
Current users who connect to the company's eShop before August 11 will automatically be registered in the Nintendo 3DS Ambassador program, which will allow 3DS owners to get the 20 games for free. Classic games from the NES, including "Super Mario Bros." and "Donkey Kong Jr.," also are slated to become available for the 3DS later this year.
Game Boy games like "Metroid Fusion" and "Mario Kart" will only be accessible to the Ambassador members; Nintendo says there are no plans to make them available to the general public.
While Nintendo's announcement did not directly address the reasons for the 3DS price drop, the company may be reacting to disappointing sales numbers.
The company is 39 million units short of projected sales for the fiscal year ending March 31, and has cut financial projections for the year from 110 billion yen to 20 billion yen -- a plunge of 82 percent.
Competition from the new PlayStation handheld Vita device, expected later this year, may also be spurring the price move. Vita is expected to hit the marketplace at $249, with more than 80 titles.

Google+ traffic falls as users spend less time on site

by 10.40
Last week, comScore reported that Google+ hit 20 million unique visitors.
After a running start, Google+'s growth may be slowing down a bit. A report from Experian Hitwise found both traffic and users' average time on the social network fell last week in the U.S.
Total visits to Google+ declined about 3% to 1.79 million in the U.S. for the week ending July 23 compared to the previous seven days, according to the research company.
The site received 1.86 million visits the prior week. Average time on the site was down 10%, from 5 minutes, 50 seconds to 5 minutes, 15 seconds.
Matt Tatham, a rep for Experian Hitwise, was careful not to overplay the findings. "This is not a huge drop," he says. The company extrapolates its figures from data from ISPs and from an opt-in panel of about 2.5 million users.
The report comes after Google+'s traffic enjoyed a steady climb since its June 28 debut. Last week, comScore reported that the network hit 20 million unique visitors.
Some were so enamored with Google+ that they closed out their Facebook accounts and moved all their activity to the new network.
What do you think? Has the novelty of Google+ worn off or is this just a blip on the road to world domination? Let us know in the comments.

Motorola's Android tablet sales fizzle out

by 10.38
Apple sold 9.25 million iPads over the last quarter, almost 20 times the number of Motorola's Xooms.
Motorola announced dismal device sales in its earnings report on Thursday, with tablets faring near the worst among the company's products.
The company shipped 11 million mobile devices over the past three months, according to the quarterly statement. Yet only 440,000 of those were tablet devices.
In other words, the Motorola Xoom Android tablet flopped big time.
Out of the remaining 10.56 million devices shipped, 4.4 million of those were smartphones. That number of course pales in comparison to Apple's 20-plus million iPhones sold last quarter, and even to the 5 million Samsung Galaxy S2 smartphones sold in the first three months of the phone's release. Especially considering that's 4.4 million across all of Motorola's device models.
It's a quarter of rough numbers for the company, which of course is facing competition on all sides.
For perspective's sake, compare the 440,000 Xoom tablets with Apple's numbers this quarter: The Cupertino giant sold 9.25 million iPads over the last quarter, almost 20 times the number of Motorola's Xooms.
And it's important to note that when Motorola says 440,000 units "shipped," that signifies the number of devices sold to retail stores, not to customers. It's difficult to determine how many actual sales to customers occurred without further detail.
And even if the iPad weren't doing so well, the Xoom is still competing with the myriad Android tablets available from other hardware manufacturers.
Still, it's not all doom and gloom for the U.S.-based mobile device manufacturer. Smartphone sales are up from 2.7 million during the same time period last year, which is nothing to scoff at.
WIRED: Motorola's Droid 3 wants to kill your Blackberry
But with the majority of phone sales being "dumbphones" -- or relatively low-end cellular devices -- the company's strategy of relying heavily on smartphone sales as a strength has yet to pan out.
With any luck, the company will be able to turn things around as more smartphone devices debut in the fall.
Motorola CEO Sanjay Jha announced that the Droid Bionic -- a highly anticipated dual-core smartphone which was pushed back to the drawing board for further improvements -- will debut some time in September.

2011 Canada Days Fireworks in Toronto

by 10.33
So, perhaps you have made any special plans for Canada Day on Friday? In case you haven't yet decided the way to celebrate our country, there are plenty of Canada Day events in Toronto to pick from. Obviously, outdoor events involving some blend of music, food and fireworks are big this weekend, however you can also get some history in, if you want.

The Canada Day Checklist

Over on About.com: Canada Online, Susan Munroe has build a Canada Day Checklist with all the strategies to a number of questions that frequently show up now of the year. Have a look if you want to find out more on our flag, our national anthem, the Fathers of Confederation, fireworks safety, and more.

Canada Day 2011 fireworks in Toronto will be happening on a grand scale in some locations, not to mention the various shows happening in backyards and neighbourhood parks over the city. A notable absence this year, however, will be the annual show at Downsview Park, that is cancelled on account of the Tragically Hip-headlined concert going on there each day on Friday.

This is a quick rundown of the other fireworks displays in Toronto on Canada Day, which happen on Friday, July 1st (only to confirm).

Ontario PlaceAlthough the Victoria Day fireworks were a no-go at Ontario Place in 2010, the western waterfront will once again be where you can a music-based show starting at 10:30 p.m. Always a remarkable display, the additional bonus in 2010 is the fact that admission to the grounds is provided for free because of the park's 40th anniversary celebrations.

Woodbine Beach / Ashbridges BayIn conjunction with the Red, White, and Vinyl Canada Day Festival, Woodbine Beach will host a fireworks display decidedly bigger than the one that came about on Victoria Day. Prior to the pyrotechnics, you will see many events and musical performances, including Alannah Myles, who somehow still manages to book shows. Opt for the fireworks, not the songs. Start time is 10 p.m.

Mel Lastman SquareGetting together again for that deficiency of fireworks at Downsview Park is the annual Canada Day festivities at Mel Lastman Square, which will be preceded by musical performances. The show costs nothing and gets arrived at 8 p.m. with fireworks at 10:15 p.m.

Canada's WonderlandAs always, those looking to fork over some bucks can take it the sprawling show at Canada's Wonderland. Day admission to the park is $44.99, along with the fireworks run at around 10 p.m., weather permitting.

President Obama said USA TODAY Hold New Debt

by 10.31
USA today barack Obama
President Obama said today he'll talk with Republican and Democratic leaders Thursday for the debt ceiling dispute, urging these phones "do something big" to lessen the country's red ink with "a balanced approach" that addresses both taxes and spending cuts.

"It's my hope that anybody will leave their ultimatums at the door, that we'll all leave our political rhetoric with the door," Obama said during brief remarks within the White House press room.

Obama said he and aides met with lawmakers on the July Fourth weekend making some progress, though he added," I don't want to fool anybody. We still have to function with some real differences."

The brand new round of meetings will need place because clock ticks for the government's $14.3 trillion debt ceiling. The Treasury says and also able to pay every one of the government's bills after Aug. 2, creating the chance of a default.

"This should not conclude the last second," Obama said.

Obama rejected the idea of a temporary boost in the debt ceiling while the parties continued debating taxes and spending cuts. He was quoted saying, "I do not think the American people sent us here in order to avoid tough problems. That's, actually, what drives them nuts about Washington."

That's greeted positively by House Speaker John Boehner, who said a big deal is better -- but not one that includes tax increases.

"I'm pleased the president stated today we need to address the big, long-term challenges facing our country," Boehner said. " Our nation's long-term future requires presidential leadership to address those challenges."

But, he said, tax increases of the kind Obama is seeking won't pass Congress. "I'm pleased to discuss these problems in the White House, but such discussions will probably be fruitless until the president recognizes economic and legislative reality," he was quoted saying.

With a news conference a week ago, Obama criticized Republicans for objecting to proposals to bring in more government revenue by closing tax loopholes and ending regulations for wealthy Americans, whilst he and the Democrats accept big spending cuts.

Obama spoke in more conciliatory terms in his brief remarks Tuesday, saying both sides must add up for the good of the nation along with the economy. "This will require all parties to get away from our comfort zones," he was quoted saying.

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., arguing that tax hikes would kill jobs and wouldn't pass Congress regardless, again invited Obama to meet with Senate Republicans.

"The simplest way to unravel this impasse is made for obama to listen to what should be done and exactly how we can take action," McConnell said. "Hear so what can actually pass in Congress."

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, D-Nev., postponed a scheduled vote around the Libyan military mission and said the chamber would focus immediately on the debt talks.

"Democrats are willing to compromise," Reid said. "But compromise does not mean allowing our Republican colleagues to place the wants of a few millionaires and billionaires prior to the needs of this nation and also the world."

top 10 corrupt countries

by 09.21
This list is taken from the Transparency International Corruption Index of 2006. The scoring is from 1 – 10 with the lower score being the most corrupt. The source of the index is polls and surveys from 21 independent institutions. Only verifiable data is accepted for inclusion. The index includes 163 nations.
10. Equatorial Guinea – 2.1 [Wikipedia]
750Px-Flag Of Equatorial Guinea.Svg
Equatorial Guinea is one of the smallest countries in continental Africa. The current president of Equatorial Guinea is Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo. The 1982 constitution of Equatorial Guinea gives Obiang extensive powers, including naming and dismissing members of the cabinet, making laws by decree, dissolving the Chamber of Representatives, negotiating and ratifying treaties and calling legislative elections.
Diplomats and even ministers have been caught smuggling drugs, sometimes using diplomatic bags and even the president’s baggage on state trips. The incumbent president has never equalled the bloodthirsty reputation of his uncle, Francisco Macías Nguema whom he overthrew. On Christmas of 1975, Macías had 150 alleged coup plotters executed to the sound of a band playing Mary Hopkin’s tune Those Were the Days in a national stadium.
9. Uzbekistan – 2.1 [Wikipedia]
800Px-Flag Of Uzbekistan.Svg
Uzbekistan is a doubly landlocked country in Central Asia, formerly part of the Soviet Union. It shares borders with Kazakhstan to the west and to the north, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan to the east, and Afghanistan and Turkmenistan to the south. Uzbekistan possesses the largest military force in the Central Asian region, having around 65,000 people in uniform.
Much of Uzbekistan’s GDP growth comes from favourable prices for certain key exports, especially cotton, gold, and increasingly gas, but the revenues from these commodities are distributed among a very small circle of the ruling elite, with little or no benefit for the populace at large.
8. Bangladesh – 2.0 [Wikipedia]
800Px-Flag Of Bangladesh.Svg
The People’s Republic of Bangladesh is a country in South Asia. It is surrounded by India on all sides except for a small border with Myanmar to the far southeast and the Bay of Bengal, part of the Indian Ocean, to the south.
The Prime Minister, as the head of government, forms the cabinet and runs the day-to-day affairs of state. While the Prime Minister is formally appointed by the President, he or she must be an MP who commands the confidence of the majority of parliament. The President is the head of state, a largely ceremonial post elected by the parliament. However the President’s powers are substantially expanded during the tenure of a caretaker government, which is responsible for the conduct of elections and transfer of power.
7. Chad – 2.0 [Wikipedia]
800Px-Flag Of Chad.Svg
Chad is a landlocked country in central Africa. It borders Libya to the north, Sudan to the east, the Central African Republic to the south, Cameroon and Nigeria to the southwest, and Niger to the west.
Chad’s constitution provides for a strong executive branch headed by a president who dominates the political system. The president has the power to appoint the prime minister and the cabinet, and exercises considerable influence over appointments of judges, generals, provincial officials and heads of Chad’s para-statal firms. In 2005 constitutional term limits were removed. Most of President Deby’s key advisers are members of the Zaghawa ethnic group, although southern and opposition personalities are represented in government. Corruption is rife at all levels.
6. Democratic Republic of Congo – 2.0 [Wikipedia]
750Px-Flag Of The Democratic Republic Of The Congo.Svg
is the third largest country by area on the African continent. It borders the Central African Republic and Sudan on the north, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, and Tanzania on the east, Zambia and Angola on the south, and the Republic of the Congo on the west.
After 4 years of interim between two constitutions that established different political institutions at the various levels of all branches of government, as well as different administrative divisions of the country, politics in the Democratic Republic of the Congo are settling into a stable presidential democratic republic. The transitional constitution established a system composed of a bicameral legislature with a Senate and a National Assembly. The Senate has, among other things, the charge of drafting the new constitution of the country. The executive branch is vested in a 60-member cabinet, headed by a pentarchy of a President, and four vice presidents.

5. Sudan – 2.0 [Wikipedia]
600Px-Flag Of Sudan.Svg
Sudan is the largest African country by area. The country is situated at a crossroads between the Horn of Africa and the Middle East. It is bordered by Egypt to the north, the Red Sea to the Northeast, Eritrea and Ethiopia to the East, Kenya and Uganda to the Southeast, Democratic Republic of the Congo and the Central African Republic to the Southwest, Chad to the West, and Libya to the Northwest.
A letter dated August 14, 2006 from the Executive Director of Human Rights Watch found that the Sudanese government is both incapable and unwilling to protect its own citizens in Darfur and that its militias are guilty of crimes against humanity. The letter added that these human rights abuses have existed since 2004. Some reports attribute part of the violations to the rebels as well as the government and the Janjaweed. The US State Department’s human rights report issued in March 2007 claims that “All parties to the conflagration committed serious abuses, including widespread killing of civilians, rape as a tool of war, systematic torture, robbery and recruitment of child soldiers”
4. Guinea – 1.9 [Wikipedia]
450Px-Flag Of Guinea.Svg
Guinea is a nation in West Africa, formerly known as French Guinea. Guinea’s territory has a curved shape, with its base at the Atlantic Ocean, inland to the east, and turning south. The base borders Guinea-Bissau and Senegal to the north, and Mali to the north and north-east; the inland part borders Côte d’Ivoire to the south-east, Liberia to the south, and Sierra Leone to the west of the southern tip.
Guinea has had only two presidents since independence was declared on October 2, 1958. Retired general Lansana Conté took control of the country in 1984 in a coup d’état after the death of Sékou Touré. Conté was elected to rule as President in 1993, then again in 1998 and 2003 while promising to reform the country. But the validity of these elections is contested, since Conté has guarded his position and has not tolerated potential adversaries.

Myanmar is bordered by the People’s Republic of China on the north, Laos on the east, Thailand on the southeast, Bangladesh on the west, and India on the northwest, with the Andaman Sea to the south, and the Bay of Bengal to the southwest.
Its political system remains under the tight control of the State Peace and Development Council, the military government led, since 1992, by Senior General Than Shwe. The Burmese military has dominated government since General Ne Win led a coup in 1962 that toppled the civilian government of U Nu. Several human rights organizations, including Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, have reported on human rights abuses by the military government. They have claimed that there is no independent judiciary in Myanmar. The military government restricts Internet access through software-based censorship that limits the material citizens can access on-line. Forced labour, human trafficking, and child labour are common.
1. Haiti – 1.8 [Wikipedia]
800Px-Flag Of Haiti.Svg

Haiti has recently undergone a state of transition following the forced ousting of President Jean-Bertrand Aristide on February 29, 2004. The circumstances surrounding his departure from office are disputed. René Préval was elected president in his place on February 7, 2006, and took office in May of that year. Préval has promised to bring peace and stability to the country.

BRITNEY SPEARS HAS RARE FARTING DISEASE

by 09.21
LOS ANGELES – Britney Spears announced she was diagnosed with a rare and deadly flatulence disease.
A former cop who worked for Spears claims the singer made his life a living hell — because of her excessive flatulence.
Fernando Flores, who worked as a bodyguard for the pop princess last year, has sued Spears’ conservators for $10 million alleging abuse of Spears non-stop farting.
Flores also alleged that he faced a series of unwanted advances from the 29-year-old Britney, who “paraded naked in front of him and often beckoned him into her bedroom for sex,” according to RadarOnline.com.
Flores never considered having sex with Spears, for a number of reasons, but primarily because “she fart all the time.  She one big farting machine.
In the lawsuit, the former bodyguard claims Spears was a rude boss, who also  picked her nose “unapologetically” and failed to shower for days.
“Spears was generally personally unkempt,” according to the suit.
“Based on his former experience as a police officer, Flores said Spears’ farting could be described as a lethal weapon,” said Flores’ attorney, Raimondo Guarez.  “My client has seen cops overcome with the smell from flatulence and he felt that he was assaulted every day by Spears and her farts.”
Doctors confirm that the fumes from Spears’ farts could be deadly to some.  “Yes, they can cause some people to choke and some may even stop breathing.”
Lawyers for Spears have filed a motion saying the allegations are exaggerated.  But, more importantly, they say that Spears has a rare condition – Flatulencia Explotatta – that affects less than 1% if the population.  “She can’t help it. She’s been do the best doctors in the world.  It’s a disease.”
Spears has topped the charts with a variety of popular songs in her career, including the hit “Baby One More Time” in 1998 and “Toxic” in 2004.
Toxic might be the best word to describe Spears.

Apple to Launch iPad HD and iPhone 5?

by 09.20
What Will Apple Do? That is the question on every Apple fanatics mind. The newest rumor via This Is My Next has a new iPad being launched with a slimmer lighter iPhone 5 this fall.
According to an unnamed source, Apple will release the iPad HD, a "pro" tablet sporting a double 2048 x 1536 resolution screen. This supports an earlier report that developers discovered 2048 x 1536 resolution images in the Twitter and Newsstand.framework of iOS 5.
ipad hd
There have been many rumors about Apple releasing a new iPad this year, but many believe it would be foolish for the company to do so with the iPad 2 selling so well. A new iPad aimed at a higher end market wouldn't render the iPad 2 obsolete, it would just offer an alternative to professionals looking to do more with the device. Like This Is My Next points out -- think MacBook and MacBook Pro.
Many Analysts believe that Apple is looking to penetrate the mid-range mobile market, but that doesn't mean they need to offer a cheaper alternative tablet. With so many options on the Android Market, Apple breaking tradition and releasing an iPad HD, iPhone 5 and a cheaper version of the iPhone 3GS doesn't seem that unlikely. The playing field has drastically changed, and it would be crazy to assume that Apple isn't ready to respond.

Cheers to screams as jet from NY crashes in Guyana

by 09.16
Flight 523 from New York had just touched down and passengers were applauding the pilot's landing in the South American country Saturday when something suddenly went wrong.
The Boeing 737-800 slid off the end of a rainy runway, crashed through a chain-link fence and broke in half just short of a deep ravine. Yet all 163 people on board survived.
Officials were starting to probe the cause of the crash even as they marveled at the lack of fatalities.
"We must be the luckiest country and luckiest set of people in the world to escape so lightly," said Health Minister Leslie Ramsammy, who said more than 30 people were taken to the hospital. Only three of those had to be admitted for a broken leg, bumps, cuts and bruises.
The Caribbean Airlines plane had left John F. Kennedy International Airport Friday evening and made a stop in Trinidad before landing in Guyana. The airline said it was carrying 157 passengers and six crew members.
Geeta Ramsingh, 41, of Philadelphia, recalled how applause at the arrival quickly "turned to screams."
"The plane sped up as if attempting to take off again. It is then that I smelled gas in the cabin and people started to shout and holler," she said.

When the plane crumpled to a stop, Ramsingh said she hopped onto the wing and then onto the dirt road outside the runway fence.
"A fellow who was trying to escape as well mistakenly jumped on my back and that is why my knees are bruised," she said. "So I am in pain, but very thankful to be alive."
Nobody had yet showed up to rescue her, "but a taxi driver appeared from nowhere and charged me $20 to take me to the terminal. I had to pay, but in times of emergencies, you don't charge people for a ride," she said, sitting on a chair in the arrival area surrounded by relatives. She was returning to her native country for only the second time in 30 years.
Adis Cambridge, 42, of Guyana, said she felt the thump of a hard landing but did not think much of it until seconds later.

"I realized that everything was on top of me, people and bags. I was the second to last person to get off that plane in the dark," she said, surrounded by her two young children who had come to the airport to meet her after a brief holiday in the U.S.
"I hit my head on the roof. It was so scary," she said, and described jumping from the wing to the dirt road below as crews with flashlights and beams from fire engines searched for passengers.
"I thought I would have died. I just started to cry," she said.
The plane came to rest off the end of the 7,400-foot (2,200-meter) runway at Cheddi Jagan International Airport, which sits on a ridge in forested region just south of the oceanfront capital of nearly 300,000 people.
Authorities struggled at first to remove passengers without adequate field lights and other emergency equipment.
The plane stopped a little short of a 200-foot (60-meter) ravine that could have resulted in dozens of fatalities, said President Bharrat Jagdeo.
"We are very, very grateful that more people were not injured," said Jagdeo, who came to the crash site before dawn.
George Nicholas, Caribbean Airlines chairman, told reporters that officials with the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board are scheduled to arrive Sunday in Guyana to take over the investigation. He said investigators from Guyana and Trinidad, the airline's base, will help.

He said the airline is arranging for counselors to meet with passengers.
Authorities temporarily closed the Guyana airport, leaving hundreds of passengers stranded and delaying dozens of flights. The main terminal reopened late Saturday morning to only a couple of small planes, including a LIAT airline bound for Barbados, said Orin Walton, a local representative for the Antigua-based carrier.
The crash of Flight 523 is the worst in recent history in Guyana, and only one of the few serious incidents involving the Trinidad-based airline. It is the single largest carrier in the region, operating at least five daily flights.
